Barcarolle op.60/舟歌 嬰へ長調

It is a mysterious story of two lovers...discreet, in a gondola in a Venetian lagoon.Its exposition is simple, gradually developing to an exquisite climax which Chopin described " with tender effusion", a mark extremely rare in Chopin's oeuvre/
恋人同士二人の秘密の物語である。ベニス運河のゴンドラの中で、提示部はシンプルです。次第に極めて美しいクライマックスへと展開してゆきます。ショパンは優しい感情の吐露と述べています。ショパンの作品ではとても珍しい特徴です。

Ballade op.23/バラード第1番ト短調 作品23

He said about it: " yes, it is my favorite" , after being asked about it by R.Schumann. Passionate, epic and dramatic at the same time, it is unique blend which doesn't cease to fascinate. I must have played it at least 600 times in concerts and probably several thousand times in various competitions, masterclasses and lessons, and I still find it extremely interesting/
彼(ショパン)はシューマンから尋ねられて“はい、それは私のお気に入りです”と答えた。熱情的で、叙事的でしかも同時にドラマティック、それは人を魅了して止まないユニークなブレンドです。私はこの曲をコンサートで少なくとも600回演奏しました。又、様々なコンクール、マスタークラスやレッスンで恐らく6・7千回弾きました。それでもまだこの曲はこの上なく興味深いものに思っています。

Ballade op.38/バラード第2番 ヘ長調 作品38

This is a picture of epic events: enchanted city which is submerged by natural disaster( a theme quite modern after all earthquakes, tsunamis and typhoons). We find a human element of suffering on these pages. Chopin gives us a parallel story telling - an idyillic life of a city, children songs, church bells, and afterwards, big waves and catastrophy which destroys everything/この曲は叙事的な出来事の描写です。自然破壊(地震、津波や台風の後では全く現代のテーマです)で水中に没した魅惑的な町の話です。これらの出来事で損害を受ける人類の基本要素を私たちは見出します。ショパンは私たちに、ある町の牧歌的生活風景を語りながら対比した物語を提供しています。童歌、教会の鐘とその後、全てを破壊する大波と大変異を。

Ballade op.47/バラード第3番変イ長調 作品47

The most feminine Ballade. For me, it depicts a love story between Ondine ( a water fairy) and a man.It abounds in scenes of seduction, dancing and supernatural atmosphere. In order to love him, she needs to forsake her immortality. One of the most imaginative and elegant works/
私には最も女性的なバラードです。水の精オンディーヌと一人の男のラヴストーリーを描写しています。誘惑、ダンスと超自然的状況背景の中で度々現れます。彼を愛する為、彼女はその不死性を捨てる必要があります。もっとも空想的で品がある作品の一つです。

It is a personal story of evolution of a single thought, which is obsessive. In a way, Chopin painted his own biography. It begins with the idea, which seems to be enchanted, depressive thought and feeling, which goes through subsequent evolution and development. The idea which was a nourishment at beginning will eventually bring the fruit of its own destruction. One of the most powerful works/
この曲は妄想というある考えが展開していく個人的な物語です。ある意味では、ショパンは彼自身の伝記を描いています。魅惑的に見えるアイデア、抑圧された考えと感情で始まります。それは次に続く展開と発展を通して行きます。初めは滋養であったアイデアは結局は、そのものの崩壊と言う結果をもたらすのです。最もパワフルな作品の一つです。

♪Harmonies du soir/夕べの調べ(第11番変ニ長調)

I can imagine this to be one of the first impressionistic pictures. Mystical harmonies are mixing in the air over distant bells' tolling evening mass.In the middle of coming dusk there is a lonely, longing melody...the grand triumphant section which follows certainly served as a departing point for some of more elaborate pieces by Rachmaninoff and Scriabin.

私は、この曲は最初の印象派的描写の一つだと考えます。夕べのミサ知らせる遠くからの鐘の音が空中で混ざり合って神秘的なハーモニーが生じています。黄昏がやってくる中で、寂しく憧れるように響くメロディ、荘厳で意気揚々とした部分、ラフマニノフやスクリャービンのより綿密に練られた作品のいくつかとははっきりと別のものなのである。
